BOOT CARE

Your Mongrels are a supreme blend of world-class materials, engineering and craftsmanship. Once they’re in your hands – and on your feet – you need to look after them like the valuable icons they are. Here are some handy hints that will help you get the best wear and longevity out of your boots.

LEATHER

STEP 1

Using a soft brush or damp cloth, loosen and remove grime and dirt from the leather uppers. Leave your boots to dry at room temperature, out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat.

STEP 2

Take a soft cloth and liberally apply Mongrels Boots Leather Wax (or boot polish) to the leather uppers. A circular motion is recommended.

Remove any excess wax or polish residue with a clean cloth and leave boots to dry at room temperature, out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat.

STEP 3

Perform step 2 on a regular basis or when needed to keep the leather nourished and soft and to prevent cracking.

SUEDE & NUBUCK

STEP 1

To care for your suede and nubuck Mongrels, give the leather a gentle brush to remove dirt, grime and light stains. Brushing will also maintain the nap.

STEP 2

For stubborn scruff marks, rub the affected area with a gum eraser.

To remove deep stains, spray Mongrels Suede & Nubuck Protector, holding the bottle about 15-20cm away from the boots. Apply a thin, even coat then allow the boots to dry completely.

STEP 3

After cleaning your boots, spray with Mongrels Suede & Nubuck Protector and allow them to dry thoroughly before next wear.

HOT TIP

For best longevity and performance, apply Mongrels Suede & Nubuck Protector when your boots are new and on a regular basis over their lifespan.

OTHER TIPS

  • Your boots should be stored away from direct sunlight in a dry, well-ventilated area.

  • Regularly remove dirt, manure and other debris from your boot soles with water.

  • Wet boots must be dried at normal room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Never use artificial heat sources, e.g. fireplaces, heaters or hairdryers, because the leather will dry out and could also shrink or crack.

  • Always allow the leather to dry naturally before applying any treatments or protectors.

  • Condition new boots using the above steps before wearing for the first time.

  • Never store your boots in a humid environment.

  • Always clean and condition your boots immediately after exposure to chemicals and other liquids.

  • By following the above boot care tips, the leather will remain soft and nourished for longer.
